After the dates were temporarily (allegedly accidentally) released on their website last week, it is now official: Pearl Jam, America’s greatest rock and roll band, will play two sets at Safeco Field in Seattle. The shows, August 8th and 10th, will benefit community groups working to fight homelessness in and around the Emerald City. There are over 100,000 attendees expected over the two nights, and I hope to be one of them.
Of all the concerts I have seen, I still would have to say that catching these guys in Nampa in 2000 has been the best experience. They bring the energy and passion, a ridiculously deep catalogue, and play for hours. Simply said: If you haven’t seen Pearl Jam live, you haven’t lived, my friend.
Tickets are not yet on sale, will surely be very spendy, and will go very quickly.
UPDATE: General public tickets on sale 2/21, but they have a pre-sale that takes place 2/16. To sign up, go to the PJ website, click on “info” next to the Safeco Field dates on their “Tour” page, and enroll in the Ticketmaster verified fan pre-sale process (its easy, I just did it).
Official tickets will range from $85-$112 (plus fees, of course…). Beware of brokerage sites that are already selling on a speculative basis for 2-10x as much. Not a good avenue, in my opinion.
